This is a complete automated tray-filling cell for fresh-cut leafy greens, spring mix, spinach, salad kits, and similar bulky, low-density produce that overflows conventional fillers.
HOW IT WORKS
The system takes portioned product from an overhead Ishida multihead (combination) weigher through a discharge chute into a rotary carousel of dimpled stainless-steel product hoppers. Each hopper receives a weighed drop of up to roughly three times the tray volume, then indexes over the tray where the product is tamped twice to settle it fully into the container before the tray is lowered away at discharge. The result is accurate weights with virtually no spillage at the fill point, which is the main advantage of this design over gravity or vibratory fillers for salad.
Ishida rates this filler at up to 50 trays per minute per lane across all pack formats, running standard retail sizes from about 5 oz to 16 oz (140 g to 450 g) as well as custom formats. Filled trays are discharged onto a modular-belt conveyor ready for a downstream tray sealer, ultrasonic sealer, or shrink bander.
