The TOMRA 5B Series 800 is the entry-width model in TOMRA's flagship 5B belt sorting platform, built on the legacy of the industry-leading Genius sorter series. Engineered for food processors demanding the highest levels of product quality, food safety, and yield optimization, the 5B Series 800 delivers exceptional sorting performance in a compact footprint. At the core of the system is TOMRA's proprietary 360° smart surround view technology, combining high-resolution pulsed LED cameras with advanced laser sensors to inspect every piece of product from all angles as it travels along the sorting belt. This dual-sensor approach enables precise detection of color defects, shape irregularities, surface blemishes, biological contaminants such as chlorophyll and solanine, and hard-to-find foreign materials including stem stalks, stones, glass, plastic, wood, and Datura. The dome-positioned high-intensity LED illumination creates uniform light reflection across all visible surfaces, virtually eliminating shadows for unmatched sorting accuracy. The TOMRA 5B features an intelligent smart ejection system that removes defective product and foreign material into one or two reject streams while allowing good product to continue along the processing line. The Sort to Spec functionality dynamically adjusts sorting parameters based on incoming defect loads and customer specifications, maximizing yield and profitability while minimizing operator intervention. SmartSort technology further reduces false rejects, ensuring minimal loss of good product. Processing capacity ranges from 1 to 16 tons per hour depending on product type and configuration, with belt speeds of up to 5 meters per second.
